12th Annual Global California Conference

The first Global California Conference was given at Cisco Systems in Silicon Valley in 2003 and over the years 11 statewide conference promoting trade and investment between California companies and the global marketplace have been conducted. The past Global California conferences have taken place in Los Angeles, Sacramento, Oakland, Silicon Valley and Santa Cruz, attracting an array of high-level global trade business people and economic development officials from both public and private sectors in California as well as invited dignitaries from around the world.

This year’s 12th annual Global California conference will take place on March 24, 2016, at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies (MIIS) in Monterey, Calif. with a focus on the trade and investment opportunities that exist between the California business community and the 21 countries of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). Additional discussions on the ‘pros and cons’ of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement and its 12 signatory countries will also be discussed.

The conference will feature an innovative panel on California’s ‘blue economy’ and how it can dovetail on the growth of the exploding ‘green economy’. Additionally, there are panels on Monterey’s ‘language capital of the world’ highlighting its unique translation, interpretation, cultural and localization services it offers to the global marketplace, and a panel on the new ‘Cyber-Silk Road’ that is now being paved between China and the U.S.
