Many food processors face significant challenges with recruiting, training, and retaining a high-quality workforce. Workers with strong technical skills are critical to plant operations, but filling those positions can be problematic due to competition form other industries, or other states. What are the positions that are hardest to fill, and what is being done to address this issue? How do you best connect with the junior colleges, universities, and other organizations that can provide the training and the skilled workers that you need? Our panel of speakers from educational institutions, economic development organizations, and industry will discuss the workforce needs of the food processing industry and where companies can get help with finding and training the best employees.
In addition to workforce recruiting and retention issues, food processors must comply with a myriad of wage and hour, OSHA, workers’ compensation, and health care regulations. It is an ongoing challenge for human resource managers to keep current with all the requirements and how best to comply. The afternoon session of the workshop will provide an update regarding new regulations and provide an opportunity for participants to ask their burning questions about compliance issues. This is a “can’t miss” session for HR managers.
The workshop is presented by Central Valley AgPLUS in partnership with AgPLUS members, the California League of Food Processors. This workshop coincides and kicks off the Food Processing Expo 2017.
