Speakers

Catherine Feig returned to Beijing in June 2013 to begin a 4-year tour as a Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy covering standards issues and the IT industry. Prior to her arrival, she served in the U.S. Department of Commerce’s U.S. Export Assistance Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where she counseled U.S. companies in South Florida on exporting to numerous worldwide markets.

Ms. Feig began her work in China in 2006 with the U.S. Embassy in Beijing as Principal Commercial Officer at the U.S. Consulate form 2009-2011, followed by a tour in Shenyang. She began her work for the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C. in 2001, after many years in the private sector. Ms. Feig holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs from the George Washington University and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Baylor University.

Bruce Zanin is the Director of the Agricultural Trade Office in Beijing of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), stationed at the U.S. Embassy. Prior to his position as Director of the ATO office in Beijing, he served as Food Security Advisor, U.S. Africa Command, 2010-2013. Mr. Zanin has held numerous positions of increasing responsibility since joining the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He served as Director of the Western Hemisphere Division, Foreign Agricultural Service/USDA and was Director of the Agricultural Trade Office at the U.S. Embassy Mexico City. Other positions include Agricultural Attache at the U.S. Embassy Abidjan, Cote d’lvoire; Associate Peace Corps Director in Tirana, Albania; Assistant Agricultural Attache at the U.S. Embassy Vienna, Austria; Assistant Agricultural Attache at the U.S. Embassy Belgrade, Yugoslavia; Economist with the Foreign Agricultural Service/USDA; and Peace Corps Volunteer, Guatemala.

Mr. Zanin holds a BS in Environmental Science from the UC Riverside and an MS International Agricultural Development and Agricultural Economics from University of California, Davis.
